That's the lamest excuse I know. And truly I think about my website and I feel bad for it because it's not getting enough love. But here I am again and hey, I'm sitting at a coffee shop. Surprise, surprise.
I suppose I'll tell you about my job so far! I work at a creative digital agency in downtown Minneapolis. Like I said, it was a stretch going from public health and getting a job in the advertising world. But here I am with my foot in the door, maybe even my arm and my leg for how great it's going. I'm an administrative assistant so the position I have allows me to see different positions within our companies and really understand how they work and what their daily duties consist of.
To be honest, I feel incredibly lucky (#blessed) to wake up and enjoy going to work. It's always been my big goal. Having a job where I can enjoy the people, atmosphere, and even my commute is very important to me. Sometimes I think back to all of the connections I tried to make, all of the resumes I sent, cover letters I tweaked, and it all lead me here.
To sum up the people I work with, for Christmas, they gave me 10 gift cards to local coffee shops in the twin cities to go check out. And my boss gifted me an adorable coffee mug on top of it. (Happy someone is reading my blog!) I couldn't have imagined a more thoughtful gift -- and wasn't expecting a gift in the first place. On top of it, my co-workers all signed a card filled with the nicest words related to having me there. Little do they know how grateful I am for them and the experiences I'm getting.
So to sum it up, life after college doesn't have to be scary. There are always jobs out there, but a tip of advice is to apply to jobs you know you will be happy at. I know this is hard to come by, and honestly yes, everyone should go through a job they don't love in order to figure out what they don't want and do want in a future career. It's one of the best lessons I've learned. It's so easy to point out the negatives, but those negative experiences only bring you closer to realizing what will drive you to chase your goals.
To end this post, I'll leave a holiday video my company has been working on. I don't think I'll ever get sick of watching it -- reminds me of the type of people I get to hang around. Introducing to you, the joy spreader 3000 (parody of our favorite things - infomercials)
I don't have to return back to work for another week and a half -- so in that case, the more free time, the more time to write!
I'm off to a Packer game today with my lovely boyfriend! Merry Christmas everyone. Spread some joy!
