Shout Out to My Little Population

I'm not sure if it's just because I'm from a small town but WOW do I love the city life. My childhood view was a little something like: knowing all of my classmates, their last names, and the name of their goldfish...riding bike to the other side of town in less than 10 minutes, having our cafeteria, basketball practice, and home games in the same gymnasium. I remember always being fascinated if I saw a plane in the sky. Now I see one about every 5 minutes.
My move to La Crosse freshman year was a shock because it was about 104x the population of my small town. Population 52,109 to be exact. I took in every inch I could of La Crosse. I learned to be i-n-d-e-p-e-n-d-e-n-t. Do you know what that means? ;) I quickly learned what this world had to offer. I got a case of the travel bug and I fell in love with traveling. To name a few; I traveled to Miami, Denver, Spain, Morocco, Nashville, South Carolina, Portugal, Chicago, and Georgia all within my four years at college. The travel bug still bites every once and a while but I couldn't be more content with my move to the cities.
Not only did I get used to traffic (never thought I would), but I've had the opportunity to spend a little more time with me; myself; and I. There's so much to do, so much to see, and if you're already from the city....then you just don't understand what I'm going through. Maybe you've never been excited about a plane before, but every time I see one, it bring me back to my home.
They say everywhere you go, you bring a little piece of home with you. I'm happy to bring my appreciation with me of this new, beautiful life of mine. I'm here to remind those who live here how to enjoy it, how to appreciate where you live and love every piece of it. Every day, for the rest of my life I can share the story of the little town I'm from. Not many people I've met here can say they're from a town without stoplights or a McDonald's at every corner. Life in a little town has lead me to appreciate my big adventures and reach for new exciting places and things to see.
Shout out to my childhood town. Shout out to my present city. Shoutout to all of the lovely places in between.
And to the rest of the places in this world? I'll see you soon.
